WTF is this? It's a completely random YouTube video, a-la the Random Article link on Wikipedia. Why? Because: a) YouTube won't do it for me b) A black background is way better for watching videos c) I like random crazy shit with no context How does it work? Basically: a script runs randomized searches on youtube 24/7/365 from a huge list of words & phrases, saving every video ID code it comes across. There are currently 29,440,706 video IDs in the database. Can I add more keywords/phrases? Sure, but don't expect to see them anytime soon. I accidentally skipped something cool, can I go back? Not really. If the window's still open and you're lucky you can View Page Source, find the current video's ID code in the 'Array' line and copy the one before it. Some videos stop & skip GET FASTER INTERNETS. Or that video sucks. Sometimes it looks like it reloads multiple times? Yes, it's auto-deleting the dead videos. There are a lot of dead videos. The Adblock 'Block' tab thing is on top of the NEXT link Add an exception: @@youtube.com/swf/l.swf Why are there so many shitty, boring videos? You really expected more from youtube? It's totally random, bitch. Who the fuck do you think you are? Hi my name's Ryan --------------------- TODO (possibly): - preserve fullscreen on auto-next (screensaver/party mode) - pre-buffering? - [needhelp] more word lists, specifically non-dictionary stuff like tech terms, ppls' names, brand names/businesses/corporations, etc. - one-click save video to custom favorites list in my DB, or, better yet, youtube's favorites list (if possible?) - track favorited videos for future best-of page - rating? probably not, who cares. - mobile version, embeddable version
